Online Application for a Spring 2013 Garden

Spring 2013 Backyard Garden Application

  • Each Spring GRuB’s Kitchen Garden Project (KGP) partners with individuals and families to build backyard vegetable gardens. Our goal is to connect low-income people in Thurston and Mason Counties with the sustainable food movement by providing access to the knowledge and resources needed to grow fresh, healthy and culturally appropriate foods. Our goal is also to empower and connect gardeners to become active participants in building community food solutions. KGP gardeners receive: a raised bed (above ground) or double dug garden (in-ground), seeds, starts and cover crops, free access to our extensive gardening workshop series and a connection to the greater gardening community. Please complete all sections of the application. If you require assistance to complete the application or have questions, contact the Kitchen Garden Project at 360.753.5522 or Application deadline is February 7th!

The more gardeners are able to support each other, the more gardens we can build! That said, contributing to other gardeners and gardens is not required and will not affect your application status.

  • Garden Mentorship Program

  • In 2013, we are pioneering a new Garden Mentor Program for interested first year gardeners. Mentors will meet with gardeners monthly to provide specific support, and will be available by phone and/or email. Garden Family Mentors will provide catered support to KGP families with kids by engaging them in their monthly visits. Mentorship relationships will last one growing season (March through November).
  • Thank you for applying to partner with the KGP!

We will let you know by February 8th if you meet the requirements to receive a Kitchen Garden. If you do meet the requirements, you will be invited to an orientation meeting in mid February or mid March, where you will learn more about our project and decide if it makes sense for you. We will be building spring gardens for successful applicants from March until June.
