Work Location: 100% on site at GRuB
Standard Hours: will be co-developed based on org needs and schedules of supervisor and the Event and Campaign Assistant; some evening and weekend hours around event weeks (Majority of hours will be Mon-Fri between 9am and 5pm)

Position Description
GRuB seeks a reliable, relationship-oriented Campaign and Events Assistant to support organization-wide events and fundraising efforts during our 25th anniversary year. This position combines administrative and logistical support with opportunities for donor and community engagement, including coordinating with vendors, assisting with event planning, and supporting event-related communications and social media outreach.
The Campaign and Events Assistant supports GRuB’s cultivation and fundraising activities by helping plan and carry out events and campaigns that strengthen relationships with donors, volunteers, and program participants. This role balances behind-the-scenes coordination with occasional public-facing engagement.
Duties include assisting with in-person fundraising events such as the Harvest Soirée, Farm-to-Table Dinners, and May There Be Gardens, as well as supporting donor gatherings, volunteer appreciation events, community-led fundraisers, annual mail appeals, and online campaigns like Give Big and our Online Auction.
Key Responsibilities

- Support the development and scheduling of social media content for fundraising campaigns and events
- Assist with media and press outreach in collaboration with the Outreach Coordinator, with a focus on reaching new audiences
- Complete administrative tasks, including accurate data entry and updates in CRM Database
- Help track and report campaign and event metrics
- Provide event staffing support, including some evenings and weekends, coordinated with team schedules
- Communicate with vendors and partners, including tracking in-kind donations and supporting donor and vendor thank-you acknowledgements
- Track and organize event supplies and inventory
- Support planning and implementation of anniversary-related activities
- Participate as a supporting member of the Harvest Soirée Committee and Auction
Organizational Stewardship
- Uphold all staff expectations relevant to this role
- Participate in site stewardship including: house cleaning chores and some farm work
- Participate in staff development and equity work, as schedule permits
- Support programs and initiatives across the organization, as needed
- Answer phone and greet visitors, equivalent of 1-2 days/week
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Entry-level candidates welcome; relevant coursework, internships, or volunteer work encouraged
- Fluency with social media platforms and interest in using digital tools to support campaigns and events
- Strong writing skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally
- Self-motivated and self-directed, with the ability to manage tasks independently and follow through on deadlines
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including comfort engaging with community members, donors, vendors, and staff
- Experience with event coordination, community-based cooking events, or related volunteering preferred
- Culinary experience or passion for food, along with an interest in food justice and community-centered work, is highly valued
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
The majority of the work is performed in an open office setting, with computer work for extended periods. Event and program support may require periods of physical activity involving standing, walking, bending, and moderate lifting up to 25 pounds, including time outdoors on our farm and programming sites. prepare the GRuB Farm for the season. Farm time will include manual labor in the fields, shaping beds, amending soil,
seed starting, irrigation systems, and other early season tasks. You may receive training in greenhouse production, soil
management, propagation, transplanting techniques, record keeping, farm tool/equipment maintenance, harvesting,
and running our onsite market stand. There will be two positions available. You will have opportunities to grow your
leadership and facilitation skills while working with volunteers and our youth crew on the land. Weekly tasks will be
dependent on farm needs, directed by weather, planting schedule and field conditions.
Key Position Responsibilities
Growing Food:
● Gain skills in all aspects of spring farming including, but not limited to: field and soil management,
irrigation, propagation, transplanting, weeding, processing
● Teach and mentor youth program participants in their first farming season. This includes teaching basic
farming skills such as weeding, planting, transplanting, harvesting, etc.
Growing People:
● Develop personal goals and track progress
● Participate in GRuB Foundations workshops as a mentor for Tier 1
● Increase facilitation skills and experience through leading people on the farm
● Provide positive mentorship, role modeling, and peer support to Tier 1 crew by living up to high
professional standards
Growing Community
● Assist with the distribution of food to community, including donations and sales at our Market stand
● Make connections with volunteers and crew members through time on the farm

plant sales. In the Spring, they will lead the farm team in field preparation, soil management, making potting soil,
transplanting, irrigation set up, weeding, and plant health management. They will lead and teach others in proper
harvesting and processing of crops from the field, having an eye for detail and organized farm systems.

Internship Description
General farm activities include but are not limited to:
● Measuring, mixing and spreading soil
amendments
● Seed starting and planting crops
● Irrigation system set up
● Noxious weed management
● Equipment/tool use and maintenance
● Tending plants and harvesting crops
● Pest management
● Large scale composting
● And more!
In addition to farm activities, interns will have the opportunity to:
● Engage with GRuB’s mission and learn about curriculum foundations
● Collaborate and engage with community members (visitors and volunteers) and program participants on the farm
Learning Goals and Opportunities
There are opportunities to learn about farming practices, community connection, food distribution, and so much
more at GRuB! We will work with you to define what your goals are and create a learning plan together.

Schedule:
● 10-20 hrs per week during GRuB’s operating hours (Mon, Tues, Thurs: 9am-5pm. Wed: 11am-7pm)
● Exact start date and weekly schedule are flexible
Qualifications:
● Must be motivated to dive into farm tasks, learn, and get dirty, in all weather
● Comfortable working independently and with groups
● Strong professionalism, communication skills, and reliability
Physical demands and accommodations
● Tasks are performed outdoors in a farm setting in all weather, with extended periods of physical activity
involving standing, walking, bending, and moderate lifting (up to 50 pounds). Reasonable accommodations
may be made to enable individuals with all abilities to perform the primary functions of the role.

Internship Description
General Garden Project activities include but are not limited to:
● Seed starting for Garden Project Participant’s
gardens
● Build 35 backyard gardens for community
members, 2 per day up, regardless of weather
● Maintain respectful and professional relations
with participants on build sites
● Power tool use
● Shoveling large amounts of soil short distances
● Provide mentorship to youth program
participants that join garden builds
● Get dirty and have fun!
In addition to farm activities, interns will have the opportunity to:
● Engage with GRuB’s mission and learn about curriculum foundations

and 5pm

● Comfortable working independently, with groups, and in multiple locations
● Strong professionalism, communication skills, and reliability
● Willing to learn and maintain GRuB’s cultural norms on and off garden builds
Preferred:
● Ability to transport self to garden builds (mileage reimbursement available)
